Let Scotty Tours take you on this insightful and fascinating one day tour to the very heartland of the World’s favourite poet, Scotland’s very own Robert Burns.
This is a golden opportunity for all Burns enthusiasts to understand more about this cultural icon. Visit his birthplace at Alloway, complete with period furniture and find yourself transported back to 1759-1796 with the help of some wonderful audio-visual technology. A walk along The Poet’s Path follows, passing images associated with Burns most famous works, before we arrive at the eerie Kirk Alloway, famously associated with his masterpiece ‘Tam O’ Shanter’ and which is also the resting place of Burns’ Father.
The must see Brig o’ Doon is our next port of call before we take in the truly magnificent Burns monument, replete with masonic symbolism before it’s time to explore the new award winning Robert Burns Museum, with its unique take on the life and times of Scotland’s favourite son.
After a lunch of lovely Scottish fayre, we head to the Ayrshire village of Mauchline and the house where Robert Burns set up home with his great love Jean Armour. Mauchline has many sites associated with Burns including Mauchline Castle and Poosie Nansies Inn!
Post refreshments, we take you on to Tarbolton where we will visit Sandgate Street, the very place where Burns set up a debating society known as The Bachelors ‘ Club! I’m sure the ladies of Tarbolton wouldn’t stand for that today…
